Colorado Brevet Series – 1000km Brevet –  16-18 June 2007

Tips for the Rider

®     600k Tips – The 1000km route follows the 400km brevet route, then the 600km brevet route’s second loop as far as Kersey.  Please view the tips for the 600km as far as Kersey.  Note that the FINISH procedures are different.

®     Finish-Line Check in – As in years past, pre-finish check in is at my house in Louisville, where you drop off your card, duly signed and with finishing time.  If you are lucky, Buster the Corgi will be there to certify your finish.

®     The 1000k Route Concept

v      Companionship - You will share the first loop with all the riders on the 400k and 600k, and with the 600k riders on the first half of their second loop.   You may wish to make arrangements with 600k riders who are planning to start the second loop as you plan to do.

v      Easier and Easier! - As so much of endurance riding is mental, I (who have ridden it twice) like to think of this 1000k this way: each loop is “easier” (or at the very least indisputably different).  The first loop has the biggest climbs and largest volume of climbing, albeit fresh and in the company of other riders.  The second loop is shorter, with very little climbing.  That’s a break.  The third loop is shorter still, more scenic, with climbs less strenuous than the first day.   And if you are of a particularly conceptual bent, there is also a “bookend” facet: you can enjoy Glen Haven cinnamon rolls on both the first and final loops.  Take this upbeat concept for what it’s worth!

Make sure that you turn in your brevet card.  If for some reason you need to clarify your result, have lost your card, etc., leave a message on 303-604-1163.

Here is the waiver you sign at ride-registration (based upon LAB and RMCC waiver):
