Colorado Brevet Series 2002 -- Schedule

· RMCC Membership - Membership in the Rocky Mountain Cycling Club is required, for insurance reasons.
· Sign-In/Inspection/Departure - All riders depart together at the prescribed departure time. Be ready to sign in and have your bicycle inspected at least one half hour before departure.
· Pre-Registration - Pre-registration allows us to staff and supply the ride appropriately. If the ride must be cancelled or rescheduled, registered riders can be informed. Pre-registrants may also receive materials such as route maps in advance.
· Qualifying - If a brevet requires pre-qualification, the event director will contact you after you register.
· Rules - Please read the brevet rules carefully before coming to the ride. Bonne route!

Front Range Flèche - Applicants form teams and design routes of at least 360km, finishing 24 hours after they start. Très français!  Lights required.  Registration required by April 1.  Flèche Info and Application

Horsetooth and Beyond - We plan to offer either last year's route to the antelope-spotted plains near Wyoming, or a new route via Poudre Canyon and Stove Prairie backcountry! Scenic climbs over Horsetooth in both cases. Also an RMCC Challenge Series ride.

Littleton - Castle Rock - Black Forest – Chatfield - Visits Castle Rock, Black Forest, and the Palmer Divide. 9100 ft. of climbing overall, mainly rolling. Our traditional route!  Lights required. Also an RMCC Challenge Series ride.

Superior - Platteville - Lefthand Canyon - St. Vrain Canyon - Horsetooth – Wellington - Climbs Lefthand Canyon (4500 ft. of climbing to 9250 ft.), descends St. Vrain Canyon, then climbs Carter Lake and south Horsetooth Reservoir. 14,000 ft. climbing. Similar to last 3 years’ routes.  Lights required.  Registration required by June 4. Also an RMCC Challenge Series ride.

Superior - Platteville - Lefthand Canyon - St. Vrain Canyon - Horsetooth – Wellington - Fort Morgan - Big Thompson Canyon The first 500km follows the 400km route (and starts with them), followed by an excursion down the South Platte to Ft. Morgan, and a final climb up Big Thompson Canyon.  Lights required.  Registration required by June 4. Also an RMCC Challenge Series ride.

Superior - Brighton - St. Vrain Canyon - Estes Park - Big Thompson Canyon - Horsetooth - Wellington – Evans - Climbs St. Vrain Canyon (4300 ft. of climbing to 9200 ft.), descending past Estes Park through Big Thompson Canyon, over south Horsetooth Reservoir and out onto the Plains through Wellington and Windsor. 18,000 ft. of climbing. Similar to the last 3 years’ routes. Lights required.  Registration required by June 23. Also an RMCC Challenge Series ride.

Pine Junction - Woodland Park - Manitou Springs - A scenic climbfest past the Rampart Range to the Colorado Springs area (8000 ft. climbing in first 80 miles), a rolling return via Palmer Lake and Chatfield.  Lights required.  Also an RMCC Challenge Series ride.

Colorado Last Chance 1200km Randonnée - "Venture to Kansas" - Boulder to Kansas and return, mainly on US-36. Rolling to flat terrain, featuring expansive views. Audax-style format an option. Bag drops provided. "Our second consecutive year!" Lights required.  Registration required by August 1.  More info  Also an RMCC Challenge Series ride.

Colorado Last Chance 200km Brevet Option - Riders may get credit for a 200km brevet by riding the final 200 km of the Colorado Last Chance 1200km Randonnée ... roughly from Last Chance, Colorado on the return leg, to the finish. Intended for Last Chance riders doing the 1000km option.

Horsetooth and Beyond - Same possibilities as the 200km in May, but the Rawhide route is reversed (clockwise): the Horsetooth Reservoir climbs followed by the open, sage landscape around the Rawhide powerplant (Buckeye Road) near Wyoming. Also an RMCC Challenge Series ride.
